Rosario Martinez
Bio
Rosario Martinez (she/her) is a Mexican-American, children’s book author. When she’s not writing picture books, she writes young adult fantasy and adult contemporary fantasy. She was born in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico and raised in Dallas, Texas.
She’s an active member in her local SCBWI chapter and the Latine writers community. In 2019, she won The Word Editor-Writer YA Mentorship. Wrote SO much in 2020 and 2021 that she’s now in a revision cycle. Yes, she’s also laughing at that. Anyways, she’s also an alumnus of Tin House YA ‘22 and Futurescapes Science Fiction & Fantasy ’22 Writers Workshops. Her short story ‘Bright Eyes’ can be found in PLACES WE BUILD IN THE UNIVERSE (February 2023), an adult Latine anthology from Flower Song Press. She has four picture books with Capstone in the MY SPECTACULAR SELF series, TIGER’S TOUGH TIME, A FANTASTIC PLAN (Fall 2022), GIA SPEAKS HER MIND, and OLIVE MAKES A CHOICE (Spring 2023).
When not writing, she enjoys recreating desserts she sees on Instagram or on Claire Saffitz YouTube. She lives in Dallas, TX with her partner and four sweet but demanding cats. Find her on Instagram , Twitter and website.
Rosario loves talking craft, running writing sprints and exploring new ways to get those words on the page. She’s excited to mentor and support upcoming picture book authors.
